Who is this for?

  • Fiction, poetry, memoir, biography, YA, and children’s fiction authors with a completed, unpublished manuscript that is ready for the submission process.
  • General non-fiction authors with a book proposal underway and ready for the submission process.

Please note, picture books and children’s non-fiction in picture book format are accepted at Picture Book Matchmaker events only.

All participants must read and ensure they meet the event eligibility requirements prior to placing a booking.

How to book

  • It is your responsibility to ensure you meet the eligibility requirements and understand the booking and preparation process prior to placing a booking.

Read the eligibility requirements and important information about Virtual Literary Speed Dating prior to booking, even if you have pitched at an event in the past, as this information is subject to change. Ineligible bookings will be cancelled, and Virtual Literary Speed Dating booking cancellations are not entitled to any refund or credit, as per our refund policy.

The date you are eligible to book from is dependent on whether you have Pitch Perfect priority booking access or general ASA member access.

  • Study the schedule of attending publishers and agents when it is published (check key dates above) and make sure you understand what they are accepting at this event.

Your manuscript should match the genres/categories the publisher or agent is seeking. If you book in with a publisher or agent who is not seeking your genre/category, the booking will be cancelled. Virtual Literary Speed Dating booking cancellations are not entitled to any refund or credit, as per our refund policy, so please take care when making your booking.

  • When bookings open, click the 'book now' button to access the booking form.

Depending on which device you are using it will be located either to the right or the bottom of your screen.

Please note, if you are booking two pitches, you must book them in the same booking form.

You will be asked to select the genre of your manuscript(s) from a dropdown menu, so please ensure you select the most appropriate option.

  • You will receive an email receipt confirming your payment once you have successfully submitted your booking form and made payment.

The exact details of your pitch(es), including the publisher/agent details and the Zoom link(s), will be sent to you via email closer to the event date — please check the key dates above for more information.

If you believe you have made an error in your booking, please email [email protected] to clarify.

  • If you cannot see your preferred publisher or agent in the selection menu of the booking form, this means their session has booked out.

You can join the waitlist by clicking the ‘Join the waitlist’ button at the top of this page, which will be accessible once bookings have opened. We recommend you do this ASAP.
