National Cultural Policy briefing

A free information session

The consultation for the next National Cultural Policy has opened, offering creators a rare opportunity to have their say and inform the government’s strategy for literature in the next cultural policy.

At the last consultation for the National Cultural Policy, it was thanks to the groundswell of author support that we were able to achieve key wins such as digital lending rights, and the establishment of Writing Australia. But there is still work to be done to address the financial precarity authors and illustrators face, and emerging threats, like the harmful ways in which generative AI has been developed and is being used to displace creators’ work and dilute the market.

If you’d like to amplify the author and illustrator voice and help the ASA advocate for sustainable creative careers, don’t miss this free information session with ASA Chair, Jen Mills, and CEO, Lucy Hayward to learn:

There will be time for questions from the audience.
