The Australian Society of Authors, the professional association and national voice of authors and illustrators across the country, is participating in the inaugural AusArt Day, a national day of giving to the arts being held on Thursday 23 October 2025. A Creative Australia initiative, AusArt Day is designed to elevate and celebrate the arts by uniting Australians in one day of giving in support of artists, arts organisations, and Australian creativity.
By donating to the ASA on AusArt Day, you will be contributing to the ASA’s capacity to make a difference for Australian authors and illustrators and support the people who create the books and Australian stories that we all love and cherish.
The ASA has stood behind Australian creators since 1963 – campaigning for the establishment of the Copyright Agency, state-based writers’ centres, lending rights (PLR/ELR), AI protections and regulation, and fair rates of pay for authors and illustrators. A small organisation that packs a big punch, the ASA provides support and services to its members, offering expertise and advice, mentoring, manuscript assessments, publishing consultancy, pitching opportunities, professional development events, and industry resources and guides. In 2021, the ASA established Authors Legal, the first affordable community legal service offering specialist advice exclusively to authors and illustrators.

The AusArt campaign runs from now until Thursday 23 October 2025, with the main giving day taking place on 23 October. Tax deductible donations can be made direct to the ASA.
We also encourage you to check out the diverse range of artists and arts organisations showcasing their work and activities on the AusArt Day website. And, if you can, donate to and celebrate your favourite artists and arts organisations.
