Structure in narrative non-fiction

One of the biggest challenges of writing narrative non-fiction lies in structuring your manuscript. Even if you know what it is you want to convey and how you want your writing to sound, organising your material into a compelling, intuitive structure can prove a significant stumbling block.

Should you tell the story chronologically? Should chapters be character-led or thematic? If you mean to weave together a personal story with research, should the anecdotal material be distributed evenly across the book or contained within set chapters?

Don’t fall into the all too common trap of forgetting to think about plot, conflict-resolution and your narrative arc — join us for this session with award-winning author Rebecca Giggs to learn how to map out your non-fiction manuscript.

Can't make it to the live session?

No problem! Everyone booked in to this event will be emailed a link and passcode to access the recording afterwards. This recording will be available to view for 10 days after the live session. This also means that if you wish to revisit the session after attending it live to take further notes, you can do so!

After 10 days, the link will expire and the recording will no longer be available to view.
