Whether you’re an emerging or established author, you’ve probably heard of TikTok and the game changer it has been for book sales. You might have seen the TikTok promotion shelves in bookshops, or ‘As seen on TikTok’ stickers on books, or your publisher or agent may even have encouraged you to get on it to promote yourself. There are plenty of authors-turned-content-creators (and vice versa!) who have found a community of enthusiastic, engaged and supportive readers in Tiktok’s book community, BookTok.
But, as many have learned the hard way, it’s not as easy as filming a couple of funny dance videos, and it’s not enough to simply post about your books. So how can you leverage BookTok and find your own fandom?
Don’t miss this session with Australian authors and viral BookTokkers Rawah Arja and Stacey McEwan to hear about their TikTok experience and how they’ve used the platform to engage with readers.
In conversation with the ASA’s Professional Development and Events Manager, Kate Adams, the duo will discuss:
There will be time for questions.
This discussion is for authors and book publishing professionals who want to learn more about using TikTok from a creator perspective — it will not cover book influencers or how to run an influencer campaign. For a list of BookTok influencers see the ASA’s Book Industry Directory.
No problem! Everyone booked in to this event will be emailed a link and passcode to access the recording afterwards. This recording will be available to view for 10 days after the live session. This also means that if you wish to revisit the session after attending it live to take further notes, you can do so!
After 10 days, the link will expire and the recording will no longer be available to view.
