Picture Book Matchmaker

You must read this information about Picture Book Matchmaker prior to submitting an application to make sure you meet the eligibility requirements, even if you have pitched at an event in the past, as this information is subject to change.

Author eligibility requirements

Both Full and Associate ASA members are eligible to apply to Picture Book Matchmaker if you have:

  • a current, financial ASA membership;
  • an unpublished, completed picture book manuscript; and
  • confidence in using Zoom in a fast-paced environment.

If you are successful in your pitch, the publisher/agent may request your completed manuscript and/or supplementary materials. If your manuscript is not complete or you are not comfortable in providing it at present, please continue working on your project and consider attending a Picture Book Matchmaker event at a later date once your manuscript is completed.

You are not eligible to apply for Picture Book Matchmaker if:

  • Your ASA membership has lapsed or is unfinancial.
  • The manuscript you intend to pitch has already been pitched two times at prior Picture Book Matchmaker events.
  • You have self-published or previously published the work you intend to pitch. Picture Book Matchmaker is for unpublished manuscripts only.

In your application form, you must disclose:

  • If you have already submitted the manuscript to any of the attending publishers or agents. You are not eligible to pitch the manuscript to publishers or agents who have it on submission or who have previously passed on it.

All applicants must read and agree to the terms and conditions for Picture Book Matchmaker prior to lodging a booking application.
