What does it take to succeed as a self-published author in Australia? Publishing independently is a daunting undertaking for any creator and there are several key questions you need to answer before you get underway. But why is it important to clarify your motivations and goals for self-publishing? What can you do to ensure you get the kind of results you want from the process? And where do you even begin with printing, distribution, and promotion, let alone all the associated costs?
Learn from the first-hand experience of acclaimed graphic novelist Mike Barry, who will share what he’s gleaned from almost a decade of creating, crowdfunding and self-publishing Action Tank, his award-winning graphic novel trilogy for kids.
In an insightful one-hour session, Mike will explore:
Whether you’re a first time author or author-illustrator seeking to understand the benefits, challenges, and practical processes of self-publishing, or an established creator wondering if an alternative pathway could better suit your next project, Mike will help you understand what it takes to bring your vision to life.
There will be time for questions from the audience.
Please note, this course is not suited to authors interested exclusively in self-publishing or hybrid publishing; the focus throughout is on the traditional publishing system.
Additionally, this course is designed for a broad range of fiction and non-fiction writers and will not provide highly specific genre market guidance.
