Do you want to breathe new life into your manuscript? If you’re feeling stuck for new ideas or want to elevate your writing but aren’t sure how, learning the tools of speculative fiction can help you find inspiration.
While speculative fiction has a fluidity that allows authors to push against the typical boundaries of genre, because it lacks its own set of conventions it can be tricky to define. What are the speculative fiction tricks and tropes, and how can they be applied to the genre you’re working in to elevate your narrative or make your writing a little bit ‘weirder’?
Author, editor, and environmentalist Jane Rawson learnt how to untap the potential of speculative fiction while writing her own novels. Join Jane for this one-hour workshop, where she will show you how you can:
Whether you’re familiar with speculative fiction and curious to learn how to use it in your own writing, or you’re ready to step out of your comfort zone and find a fresh approach to ongoing projects, don’t miss this opportunity to update your tool kit and change the way you think about genre.
This session will include one or two short writing exercises, but you won’t be called on to share your writing.
There will be time for questions from the audience.
No problem! Everyone booked in to this event will be emailed a link and passcode to access the recording afterwards. This recording will be available to view for 10 days after the live session. This also means that if you wish to revisit the session after attending it live to take further notes, you can do so!
After 10 days, the link will expire and the recording will no longer be available to view.
